Ssangmi Gopchang Yongsan Branch

19-20, Hangangdaero 15-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea

"Experience serene gopchang in Yongsan, Ssangmi Gopchang" Located near Yongsan Station, right by the northern end of the Han River Bridge, Ssangmi Gopchang has become a popular dining spot since its opening, standing out even during construction. The large Chinese character sign on the building's exterior is eye-catching, and the impressive rooftop jangdokdae (traditional Korean earthenware) adds to its charm, creating a unique entrance that feels like stepping through a home’s front door. The interior, featuring wooden elements reminiscent of old Japanese-style houses and soft indirect lighting, offers a cozy atmosphere. Inside, the menu is displayed clearly, and in addition to soft drinks, alcoholic beverages are also available. If you order the gopchang gukbap (gopchang soup with rice) for lunch, it comes in a hot stone pot filled generously, accompanied by side dishes like fresh kimchi, kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), and jalapeños. The gopchang is thick and the vegetables are plentiful, providing a satisfying crunch, while the broth is spicier than it appears, making it delicious whether enjoyed on its own or mixed with rice for a light yet rich flavor. Not only is the food excellent, but the kindness of the owner and staff also leaves a lasting impression, making for a pleasant dining experience. This is a highly recommended spot for a hearty meal, perfect for days when you crave grilled dishes and hot pots.
